Blue Mist, written by Mohamed-Zain Dada and directed by Milli Bhatia, first premiered at the Royal Court Theatre, earning a nomination for Outstanding Achievement in Affiliate Theatre at the Olivier Awards. We caught up with long-time collaborators Mohamed-Zain and Milli to discuss Blue Mist, their creative partnership, and how their work comes together across projects.

We spend our lives trying not to be carbon copies of our mothers, only to realise we are versions of them. We are not only their fears, but we are their dreams. We are loud, we are unfiltered, we don’t say “Log Kya Kahenge?” (“what will people say?”). We dance in understanding our mothers; resisting the patriarchal stereotypes that have been embedded in them, while also learning to embrace the parts of them that we hold dear to us, all whilst carving our own identities.

Zinda Laash (“Living Corpse”), Pakistan’s first X-rated horror, was directed by Khwaja Sarfraz and released in 1967. It’s considered to have largely followed the plot and stylistic devices of Hammer Horror’s Dracula from 1958, alongside Bram Stoker’s novel of the same name.

Following the events of October 7th, we have seen the world come together to fight for Palestinian rights, calling to end the ongoing genocide, and to demand their governments to vote for a ceasefire. Witnessing the volume of protests globally, some with record breaking numbers, has been pivotal. With weekly protests across the UK, one of which reached an attendance of up to 1 million people in London in November, we have seen people across all ages and cultures showing support week after week, with the momentum, thankfully, not settling any time soon.
